Pearl-kissed Custard Pies

These jelly pearls may be trending now—but back when I first thought of using them, Instagram had zero videos on it! I had to dig into YouTube to learn the technique, and after failing twice (yes, my pearls wouldn’t hold their shape when dropped into oil), I nearly gave up…

But guess who saved the day? 👨‍🍳 My partner! He nailed the technique perfectly, and that’s when the magic finally happened. 💫

We packed these custard-filled pies with jelly pearls and carried them all the way to Boston to our friend’s place—and trust me, they vanished within minutes of opening the box. The creamy custard layered on flaky pie, with that surprising pop of jelly pearls—it was sooo yum, I just wish I had made a double batch.

This one taught me patience, teamwork, and that little pops of joy always leave a big impact. 💛
